Puff The Magic Dragon

The Rotary Team has arrived in Guatemala following some uncertainty that the plane  would be able to land in Guatemala City following a “Puff” from  from Volcan el Fuego.   The volcano eruption had covered a large area in ash including a dusting in San Antonio where we are staying.  Fortunately a  huge and unusual rain storm washed away the dust in San Antonio but Antigua, where we will go later,  is reported to have one or two inches of ash. Air traffic was cancelled on Feb 8th but when we arrived early on the 9th the airport had been swept buy hundreds of workers.  Our plane was stopped just after landing and towed to the terminal to prevent damage. A common site along the road from Guat City to San Antonio was people washing their cars.
