Rub A Dub Dub Plenty New Tub

The toughest part of our wash tub project was done by Joan who arranged for the funds and did the ordering. When the 17 large washtubs arrived by truck they were unloaded and distributed within a couple of hours. The people who received the tubs all arrived at once and general chaos ensued –   as usual.  It was amazing to stand and watch the various methods used to transport the bulky sinks.  All of us stood in awe watching several ladies carry the tubs – estimated between 40 and fifty pounds – on their heads.  This weight is not unusual but  we can’t understand how they found the center of gravity of these irregular shapes and how they stayed balanced going up very steep stairs. We have it all on video…show you when we get back.

They certainly are impressive sinks! The strength of the Mayan people is inspiring! Oh man I am missing being there! Hugs all around
