Baby Health New Focus

Today I helped out at the nutrition clinic. We handed out about 150 packages of nutritional supplement to 57 mothers. There are 2 groups of 40 women who are scheduled to participate alternate weeks. Today both groups showed up and will alternate going forward. Each child is weighed and measured for height every two weeks to track progress. They are also ranked green, yellow or red in terms of overall health relative to their age group.

Chemainus Rotary is funding part of this program. Our support will provide needed nutrition for 16 children for a year. Based on today’s clinic, it looks to be very well organized by a volunteer registered nurse and community volunteers.

Thanks to David and Jacqueline who have spent numerous hours organizing and planning the process for the clinic to carry on over the next year. Everything is in place for it to be a great success.

Today, as an extra bonus, the mothers and children were  given a teeth brushing demonstration and tooth brushes and paste. Thanks to Dr Megas and his staff for the donation of supplies.

A good day for everyone. Muchas gracias.
